Call for Nominations – At-Large Directors
The Nominating Committee of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. (EAF) is seeking nominations for the position of At-Large Director of the Board of Directors. In accordance with Article IV Section 2C of the Foundation's Bylaws, the EAF Board is comprised of eleven (11) voting members. Five (5) At-Large Directors are elected biennially by a majority vote of the regular members of the Foundation. The Directors shall be elected for a two-year term and may be elected for one additional two-year term.
Any member of the EAF may nominate herself or another member for At-Large Director. The nominee and nominator must be active members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and EAF. Directors, Officers, and staff are not eligible. The nominee:
- should subscribe to EAF's mission in the support of lifelong learning;
- have the ability to make a personal donation and assist in attracting and cultivating resources for EAF;
- have the financial ability and availability to attend Board Meetings, Regional Conferences, EAF Annual Meetings, Boulés;
- have prior fund-raising experience and leadership or Board experience; and
- contribute annually to any EAF campaign.
The EAF Nominating Committee will judge nominations based on the individual's overall commitment, participation, and impact on EAF. A slate of five (5) candidates will be presented to the Board for approval. These candidates' names will be shared with the membership through this website during spring 2012 and later ratified at the Annual Meeting during Boulé of the same year.
The nominee should be a member of EAF and AKA for three consecutive years ('08, '09, and '10). Nomination Forms must be received in the EAF Office no later than 5:00 p.m. (CST) by the nomination deadline date of December 30, 2011. (No faxes or e-mail).
